This course will provide the trainee with the knowledge necessary to understand and enhance their mechanical aptitude in the area of Positive Displacement Pumps.
The purpose of this course is to develop a working knowledge of the different types of positive displacement pumps as well as the different procedures associated with operation and installation of these pumps in the Gas and Petroleum Industry. With the completion of this course the participants are equipped with the basic knowledge required to install and repair positive displacement pumps
Technicians are required to have a good technical comprehension pumps, understanding the different types as well as how to decide which application or type of pump to use. The technicians that participate in this training will be better equipped to repair and maintain as well as install and commission pumps and their related systems within their responsibilities as well as increasing the knowledge within the maintenance team. This will also increase the safe and efficient productivity of the systems. With further on-job training and experience the technician will be able to attend more advanced training in this area therefore enhancing the maintenance team’s capabilities and knowledge.

The following Topics will be covered allowing the Technicians a much stronger understanding of the Operation and Maintenance of Machinery and Equipment in the Petroleum Industry
The course will begin with a review of the course outline as well as and required activities scheduled for the day.
Day 1 – Identification
- Identify Components and Construction
- Define terminology associated with positive displacement pumps.
- Identify hazards and describe safe work practices associated with positive displacement pumps.
- Identify types of positive displacement pumps and their components and describe their applications and operation.
- Identify tools and equipment used to remove, install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair positive displacement pumps and describes their applications and procedures for use.
- Describe the procedures used to remove and install positive displacement pumps.
Day 2 – Maintenance and Diagnostics
- Describe the procedures used to repair positive displacement pumps.
- Describe the procedures used to inspect and maintain positive displacement pumps.
- Describe the procedures used to troubleshoot positive displacement pumps.
- Identify considerations for determining if positive displacement pump repair or replacement is required.
- Describe the procedures used to commission positive displacement pumps.
