Steam is distributed from the boiler to all steam users in the plant. A dependable steam supply is essential for safe and efficient plant operation. Condensate is steam that has some heat energy removed from it returning it to the water phase. Because this water has already been treated and still contains heat, its recovery and use greatly reduces the expense of boiler feed water.
In this course, participants will gain an understanding of the principles and use and distribution of steam to the various users in the plant. They will also be exposed to the operation of a steam distribution system.
Participants learn about the steam condensate system, what is meant by steam condensate recovery and some of the problems encountered when dealing with steam condensate. The ESD and PSD considerations and the safety, health and environmental practices will also be discussed.
